As many of you have read, while we own a Roatan vacation rental, Mary and I live year round in the greater Boston area with our four children aged 16 to 10. When we bought Coral Vista 1 early last year, Mary and I decided that we wanted to reinvest some of the rental proceeds in Roatan. So on our annual Roatan vacation last summer, we asked Mark Flanagan from Roatan Life Vacation Rentals, the company that manages our property and takes care of our guests, to take us around to some local charities so we could learn more about them. We wanted to understand what they did, how they worked and, importantly, we wanted to be comfortable that our donations would actually find their way to the people of Roatan.
