I had the pleasure this past Saturday of working with a young man from the Honduran mainland named Jose Servillon who shoots aerial footage for a variety of industries using an industrial strength RC helicopter.

There's a lot to love about owning a vacation home on Roatan. We are so fortunate to have a place we can go that's on a beach overlooking the Caribbean in a cool little town - even if we only get there once a year for a week. The rest of the time, we get to share it with people from all over the world who visit Roatan to relax, escape and explore. That is what's so great about owning a vacation home on Roatan.

Two years ago this month, I visited Roatan with my wife and four kids for the very first time. Like many first-time visitors, our main reason for coming was scuba diving. And like an increasing number of new visitors, we found out about Roatan from an episode of HGTV's Househunters International.

A place to hang out together with family or friends, listen to music (or not), have a conversation (or not), play some cards (or not)... it's all up to you. And it's one of the big advantages vacation rentals have over a resort or hotel.

We get a lot of questions from prospective guests about renting our villas - most are of the basic variety: how much? is it available? how many beds?  I call these questions "basic" because the answers are easy. We look up a date, check the rates, describe how the bedrooms are set up, and that usually does the job. But every now and then, we get questions that take a little more work to answer like, "When's the best time to come?", and "How much in advance do I need to book a particular week?".
