It has become quite fashionable of late to have a bucket list. That is the list of activities and experiences you must complete before "kicking the bucket". These lists often include things like sky-diving, trekking in Nepal, running a marathon, driving on the Autobahn, seeing the Mona Lisa in person... You get the idea: something out of the ordinary that you would really like to do someday, but may only get to do once in your life like...
... Vacationing in a Caribbean Villa
So here's the thing, renting a Caribbean Villa is probably not on most people's bucket list. But it should be!
- It's definitely out of the ordinary
- It's a lot of fun (and a great way to enjoy a vacation)
- And - this is the big one - it's surprisingly affordable!
That's right. It's actually not that expensive. In fact, it may cost less than staying in a nice Caribbean hotel or a nice Caribbean resort. It definitely costs less than staying at a nice ski resort (and it is much warmer). This is especially true if there are six or more people in your group, but...
You must choose the right Caribbean Island
That's because most Caribbean islands charge an arm and a leg for villa rentals. You know the ones. They start with Saint or Grand or... Ba-. These islands also tend to charge an arm and a leg for everything: rental cars, food, drinks, etc. And why not? They are well known places, and they get a lot more demand than they have supply. And when that happens (thank you Adam Smith), prices rise.
On the other hand, there are lesser known islands like Roatan with lower levels of demand (Roatan just passed the 1 million annual visitors mark whereas Grand Cayman sees almost 3x that)... and equal levels of supply (Roatan is a relatively large island at 33 miles long). Accordingly, you can save as much as 50% renting a Caribbean villa on Roatan for an absolutely equivalent product. Same weather, same water, same services and amenities.
Put Caribbean Villa Rental on Your Bucket List
Vacations are meant to be enjoyed. Their role is to help us relax and decompress. Relative to crowded resorts or hotels, renting your own private home is the clear way to achieve these goals. So, before you take your next vacation, look into a villa rental and see what's available at what rate. You will be pleasantly surprised.
